We were really pleased to read the exciting news about the Covid – 19 vaccine being approved for use. Because of the nature of the vaccine and the logistics of getting it delivered, initially not all GP surgeries will deliver it from their buildings. We are pleased to say that two of our surgeries have been approved to deliver the vaccination from their buildings, for our Wyre Forest Health Partnership (WFHP) patients. We will be working with the other WFHP practices to give the vaccinations from Stourport Health Centre and Kidderminster Medical Centre.
When we receive the first vaccine, we will ring people in the Government’s priority order, to book the appointments; please DON’T ring us. Separate arrangements will be made for our housebound patients and residents in the care homes, to receive their vaccination as we did with their flu vaccinations.
We will run this immunisation campaign in the same safe Covid secure way as we did our flu clinics (22 500 flu vaccinations given so far this winter!)
We will be moving office and clinical staff away from other work to run the clinics, as well as calling up retired colleagues to help. We know you will have a lot of questions, and as soon as we receive relevant literature, we will share it with you.
This is all we know at the moment, but it’s a great step forward and we look forward to getting the clinics underway soon.
